Cost-Effectiveness of Pembrolizumab for Unresectable Metastatic Melanoma After Progression with Ipilimumab in England.

چکیده
REFERENCES Pembrolizumab (MK-3475) is a humanised, anti-programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) monoclonal IgG4 antibody. It is involved in the blockade of immune suppression and reactivation of anergic T-cells in cancer patients. It is believed that due to the high specificity and affinity for PD-1, against which it displays pure antagonist properties, pembrolizumab has the potential to improve the effectiveness of treatment for advanced melanoma patients.

The development of the cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 inhibitor ipilimumab and its approval in 2011 for the treatment of metastatic melanoma has heralded a new era in immuno-oncology. Subsequently, novel agents against the programmed death receptor 1 (PD-1)/programmed death receptor ligand 1 (PD-L1) axis have shown significant activity in melanoma and a variety of other tumor types...
متن کاملFlare-Up of Rheumatoid Arthritis by Anti-CTLA-4 Antibody but Not by Anti-PD1 Therapy in a Patient with Metastatic Melanoma
A 47-year-old female patient with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treated with methotrexate, was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma. After surgical removal of the tumor, the patient started treatment with ipilimumab while methotrexate was stopped. One week after initiation of ipilimumab, the patient developed typical symptoms of RA. Analgetic therapy was started. After 4 cycles of ipilimumab, melanom...
متن کاملNew developments in the management of advanced melanoma – role of pembrolizumab
Cancer immunotherapy is now recognized to be fundamental in modern oncology, because immune system recruitment may represent a powerful and innovative strategy in cancer therapy. Pembrolizumab, a highly selective humanized monoclonal antibody directly blocking the interaction between programmed cell death-1 expressed by tumor-associated T-cells and its ligand programmed cell death-L1 present on...
متن کاملImmunotherapy of melanoma
The immunotherapy is currently changing the landscape of oncology. Nowadays the standard of care in metastatic or unresectable melanoma patients include immunomodulating modalities such as anti-PD-1 drugs (nivolumab, pembrolizumab) and anti-CTLA-4 antibody ipilimumab. The improvements of progression free survival and overall survival connected with those treatments were unprecedented and have b...
متن کاملCombined Nivolumab and Ipilimumab or Monotherapy in Untreated Melanoma.
BACKGROUND Nivolumab (a programmed death 1 [PD-1] checkpoint inhibitor) and ipilimumab (a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 [CTLA-4] checkpoint inhibitor) have been shown to have complementary activity in metastatic melanoma. In this randomized, double-blind, phase 3 study, nivolumab alone or nivolumab plus ipilimumab was compared with ipilimumab alone in patients with metastatic mela...
